Privacy Policy

      The short version: FolioAI processes all your documents entirely on your Mac. No files, no personal data, and no usage information ever leaves your device or touches any server.
    

1. No Data Collection

FolioAI does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data or document content. We have no servers that receive your files. Everything you do in the app stays on your Mac.

2. Documents and Files

All document processing in FolioAI — including action item extraction, briefing generation, document chat, risk detection, findings analysis, and video generation — is performed locally on your Mac using Apple's on-device machine learning frameworks (including Core ML, Create ML, and related Apple APIs). Your documents are never uploaded to any server or third-party AI service.

3. On-Device AI

FolioAI does not use cloud AI services such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other third-party AI provider. All language model inference runs on your Mac's Neural Engine. No API calls are made to external AI endpoints on your behalf.

4. Purchases and Subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit 2. FolioAI never sees or stores your payment information. Your subscription status is verified directly with Apple's servers using a cryptographically signed receipt.

5. Analytics and Tracking

FolioAI contains:

No analytics SDKs
No advertising frameworks
No crash reporting that transmits data
No third-party tracking of any kind

6. Local Storage

The app stores your collections, documents, preferences, and subscription status in local storage on your Mac (Core Data and UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device. You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling FolioAI.

7. Network Access

FolioAI requests network access only for:

Verifying your subscription status with Apple's servers (no document content is transmitted)
Downloading AI model weights on first launch (from Apple's CDN; no account required)

After the initial model download, FolioAI operates entirely offline. No document content, no queries, and no user activity is ever transmitted over the network.

8. Children's Privacy

FolioAI does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Because we collect no personal data at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
